    'Gemma'

Gemma, as pictured on the right is a 5" gauge, narrow gauge engine, based on the highly successful design from Orenstein and Koppel in Berlin. This type of robust loco were built in their many hundreds for export to the developing colonies during the early 20th century, a large number are still to be found in preservation today.
Gemma, is an example produced by the

'Südostbahn' the South Eastern Railway here in Switzerland, built by the Apprentices at the Südostbahn, the railway which, incidently, runs up to Einsiedeln from the lake of Zürich. Gemma was my loco for the past 6 years, however, having completed 1600km a general overhaul was necessary. This completed,I have decided to sell her on to her next owner who lives locally and also has good contact to the SOB. The resultant space in the garage will now be taken up by the two e3/3 'Tigerli' locos my son and I are building in 7.25".

    'Inge'

As mentioned above I'm currently working in a group of 6 building 6, e3/3 'Tigerli' locomotives. The way things look at the moment mine will have the name 'Inge', and, anyone wanting to know why, will have to follow the story of how our project progresses. This is currently being serialised in Engineering In Miniature the chapters will appear two months later under this link, starting on the 1.1.10.

'Samuel Worley'

The picture left is myself behind 'Samuel Worley' my 2" Durham and North Yorkshire Traction Engine. This was December 2004 and a test run shortly after a rebuild. The engine is 23 years old and was originally built by Philip Soden in Toronto. Apart from a leaky Blower valve, (new one ready to mount) she runs like a clock.

Anyone planning a trip up to Einsiedeln that would coincide with one of our running days is more than welcome to drop by. We usually have a grill organised and a range of drinks is available. We do not charge for rides and atmosphere is completely informal. If you require more details you may drop me a line to    ellis@gmx.chwith the title MECE INFO as subject, I'll usually get back within a day or so with answers.
